What happens when four passionate fitness professionals incorporate three powerful components – fitness, travel and outdoors – to change lives? You get a one-of-a-kind fitness cruise to changes lives in the awe-inspiring landscapes of Alaska.

The four American Council on Exercise professionals consists of Jessica Matthews -ACE Exercise physiologist, Jonathan Ross – ACE Personal Training Consultant / Master Trainer and Dr. Michael Mantell Ph.D – Senior Fitness Consultant of Behavioral Health and Elizabeth Kovar – ACE Master Trainer. The diverse background and expertise of each individual creates a holistic, well-rounded approach to health discovery and movement programs. From novice to expert to the young or young at heart, these individuals will inspire you ways you could not imagine. Whether you discover how to unleash your inner motivation or find peace in a yoga session, there is something for every-body, age and fitness level.

Movement is a part of life, and does not need necessarily have to be found within the four walls of a gym. And that is where nature, or Alaska comes into “play.” The cruise visits Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia.

Destination- A Better You

While at port, participants exit their comfort zone and enter destination unknown to hike, bike, kayak, fish, log roll or whale watch. Some of the best self-discovery pursuits occur in peace and in connection with nature. And there is no better place to find oneself than Alaska. In life, humans are often disconnected from the self and connected to technology, stress and deadlines. When disconnected, people lose control of their health, especially the simple rhythm of breathing.

Take a fresh breath of pure, Alaskan air while exploring your inner strengths through outdoor pursuits. The power of the outdoors, and mother nature, instills a natural confidence to gain an understanding that humans can control certain areas of their life, and others are out of control.

Integrating this with health behavior knowledge helps us combat stress to find happiness. Ever heard, “Don’t sweat the small stuff?” Stress is what usually finds us burnt out, which leads to poor habits such as emotional eating.

Dr. Mantell says, “The link is what you think about everything.” The mind is a powerful tool that can make or break willpower, outlook on life and of course your fitness routine.

And have you ever thought that there is a mental connection between weightloss and weather? There sure is, but this secret can only be released while on the cruise. Hint: your outlook on weightloss starts in the mind.

Much of the American society, especially surrounding past fitness efforts, are negative in nature. With the professional’s expertise and exposing one’s inner child in nature, the atmosphere is positive, which links movement to playful experience. Whether you have tried to exercise in the past, or never exercised at all, this cruise will help you start exercise for the last time.

“This cruise will be an experience that moves you to keep moving.  We will help you connect what drives you with getting more active to bring more enjoyment to movement in everyday life and exercise.” says Jonathan Ross.

The cruise will be the start to a new chapter of life, and participants will return home rejuvenated as a healthier, happier and fitter individual. This is a once in a lifetime adventure that maybe headed to a destination unknown, but know that you’ll return to your home destination as a better you.

The cruise sets sail from the port of Seattle, Washington on June 29, 2014, and takes place on Norwegian Cruise Line “The Pearl” ship. For further program information about the cruise and instructor bios visitwww.ABetterYouCruise.com.
