7 Ways to Drink Tequila (besides Margaritas)

In Mexico, tequila is a sophisticated alcohol. Its most common home is in the notable, yet cool and refreshing, margarita. This Cinco de Mayo take a vacation from the iconic salt-rimmed beverage and quench your thirst with a special tequila drink. On your next swim-up-bar retreat, try one of these quenching tequila drinks.

Paloma
Spainish for “dove”, one will feel as sacred as a dove after drinking this grapefruit-flavored drink. This drink is best served with a high-class brand such as Don Julio Tequila. Mix together the following ingredients.
-1 oz. Don Julio Tequila
-2.5 oz. Grapefruit Juice
-1/3 oz. lime juice
-1 tablespoon sugar
-Splash of seltzer

Place all the ingredients (except lime) into a shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a glass. Add the lime juice and give it a final mix before serving.

Tequila Sparkler
This drink is for the ladies. The mimosa-inspired beverage skips the OJ and replaces it with tequila. Enjoy a tequila sparkler at brunch or a summertime celebration. Mix together the following ingredients.
-¾ oz. high quality tequila
-2.5 oz. champagne
-1 strawberry (placed in the drink)
-Splash of simple syrup

Mexican Mule
This Moscow-mule-inspired beverage is best served in a copper cup. This drink replaces the original drink’s vodka with tequila. Mix together the following ingredients.
-1.5 oz. tequila
-3 oz. ginger beer
-3 dashes of bitters
-Orange slice for garnish

Tequila Sunrise
Wake up to the refreshing hints of a tequila sunrise. It won’t beat a real sunrise, especially if you drank too many of these the night before. Mix together the following ingredients. Best served on ice.
-1.5 oz. tequila
-0.5 oz. grenadine
-Orange juice to taste

Bloody Maria
This drink is perfect for any Cinco de Mayo or beach brunch experience. The drink spices your morning tongue with the rising sun. If you are sensitive to spicy foods, cool-down with less hot sauce and Worchester sauce. Mix together the following ingredients. Best served on ice.
-2 oz. tequila
-3 oz. tomato juice
-2-3 dashes Worchester sauce
-3 dashes hot sauce
-1/2 lime juiced
-Pinch of fresh horseradish
-Celery stalk for garnish
